Résumé

En 1958, une femme donne naissance à son premier enfant au Sénégal, terre d’émigration et au même moment le Liban, pays des origines, plonge dans un grave conflit interne, préambule de la future guerre civile.

« À travers l’invocation lyrique des fantômes du passé, le réalisateur expose l’implication ontologique d’un destin collectif au sein de chaque narration personnelle. Sans illustrer de façon didactique les faits historiques derrière cette histoire qui est aussi la sienne, Ghassan Salhab a créé un texte visuel qui encourage le spectateur à réfléchir, et à chercher, jusqu’à un certain point, à prendre part au film. »

In 1958 a woman gives birth to her first child in Senegal, land of emigration, while Lebanon, her country of origin, is in themidst of a serious internal conflict, a forerunner to the coming civil war.
