John Wintergreen, petit de taille mais coriace, est policier dans la brigade motorisée et rêve d’entrer à La criminelle. Lorsqu’un collègue lui apprend qu’une enquête est ouverte sur un suicide, il est convaincu qu’il s’agit d’un meurtre et tente de participer à l’enquête.
