Résumé

Neko fait partie du peuple des Nenets et vit dans la toundra sibérienne avec son père et sa grand-mère. Ils se déplacent en kayak, attrapent des poissons et chantent les incantations des chamans. L’enfance idyllique de Neko touche à sa fin lorsque sa mère l’envoie, contre son gré, dans un internat soviétique. Le film est basé sur les souvenirs d’enfance de la réalisatrice Anastasia Lapsui.

Neko belongs to the people of the Nenets and lives in the Siberian tundra with her father and grandmother. They travel around by kayak, catching fish and singing shamanistic incantations. Neko’s idyllic childhood comes to an abrupt end when her mother sends her to a Soviet boarding school against her will. The film is based on the childhood memories of its director, Anastasia Lapsui.
